Christine Howitt

Christine Howitt has been practising yoga for 25 years and teaching for 19. She initially trained within the Iyengar tradition, but over the years has moved away from this approach to explore other methods of yoga, as well as spending many years studying and practicing Chinese Medicine, which has enhanced her understanding of the body as an energetic system. These influences have gradually been integrated into a deeper understanding of the practice of yoga. Christine has been particularly inspired and influenced by the work of Donna Farhi, with whom she continues to study, as well as regularly assisting Donna on her teaching visits in Europe and her Advanced Teacher Training Programme in New Zealand.

As a teacher, Christine endeavours to share her experience with honesty and integrity, making the fruits of the practice accessible to everyone. Her teaching emphasises clarity and precision in alignment in order to create the foundation for fluid integrated movement.

Christine lives and works in Manchester. She is a founder member of the successful Bodywise Alternative Health Centre where she teaches regular classes and workshops, as well as working one to one on a more therapeutic basis. She also teaches workshops throughout the UK and abroad.

Christine is continually developing and honing her skills as a teacher. In 2009, she studied the therapeutic application of Restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater, and as a result of this, qualified as a ‘Relax and Renew Trainer’ in April 2009. Christine is known and respected for her instinctive approach to teaching. Her methods are adapted to suit each individual student she works with.
