Lucy was first introduced to yoga at 18 whilst studying and working with young people with a diagnosis of Autism. Some of the challenges that the young people she worked with were facing is what she found herself cultivating and growing during her own yoga and meditation practice. It was at this point she knew that she needed to combine the two. In 2005, she began to study with Sonia Suma and Jo Manuel in teaching yoga to children with additional needs (through Yoga for the Special Child-The Sonia Sumar Methodology) . She knew at this moment that this was her life’s work. Lucy has since trained, studied and been dedicated to offering this work to babies children and adults throughout London and now in Gloucestershire. Lucy has also had the privilege to study with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, learning Yoga for Pregnancy, the postnatal period and for the early years. She has completed the Yoga Nidra Teacher Training which she felt has deepened and developed her understanding, personal practice and capacity to share Yoga Nidra. Subsequently, she offers this to children and adults with mental health challenges and is developing training on this.
Lucy is a mother of 3 and works as a Clinical Psychologist and Yoga Therapist. She works in the NHS and within the voluntary sector. She designs, develops and delivers teacher training programmes for professionals, parents and carers such as the Yoga and Mindfulness for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Teacher training course, CPD days on Yoga for ASD and ADHD and Yoga Nidra for Mental Health Professionals. Lucy is committed and passionate about making yoga and mindfulness available and accessible to all.http://www.specialyogaworks.org
