"There are many and various methods, depending on individual experience, of the path to Samadhi, told by the great ones."
Hatha Yoga Pradipika, 4:63
Vinyasa Krama is "wise progression", the intelligent linking or sequencing of postures that informs a complete practice. It also refers to a vital thread of the yoga tradition: a practice should suit the needs of the individual. The Energetics of Sequencing is a comprehensive course that delves into the specific and broad range effects of the vast variety of asanas and pranayamas. The aim of this five-day practice and teacher training intensive is to explore, through direct experience, both the potential of practice and the reach of teaching.
Designed to enrich dedicated practitioners, aspiring teachers, or those already teaching, our emphasis will be on the energetic principles of sequencing, exploring the physical, mental, and subtle benefits of practices from the sublime wisdoms of Tantra, Yoga, and Ayurveda. The training is designed to inform and empower committed practitioners and teachers of all levels with the knowledge necessary to heighten the effects and benefits of their own or their students' yoga.
The training consists of two parts: morning practices and afternoon theory sessions. Morning practices will include asana, pranayama and meditation that highlight five distinct outcomes of a specifically focused practice. Afternoon sessions will deepen our exploration through additional practices, lectures, and Q & A sessions.
Subjects covered include:

Please note: At the close of the training all participants are eligible to receive a ParaYoga certificate of completion. However, it is not rewarded on the basis of enrolment. Attendance at all sessions and completion of all contact hours is required.
Rod Stryker is the founder of ParaYoga and has taught tantra, meditation, and hatha yoga for more than 25 years. Rod's study of yoga began at the age 19. Three years later he began an intensive apprenticeship with internationally renowned yoga master Kavi Yogiraj Mani Finger. Rod became a dedicated part of this spiritual lineage that included some of India's leading yoga masters of the past century: Paramhamsa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, Kaviyogi Maharshi Shuddhananda Bharati, and Ramana Maharishi. In addition to his discipleship with Mani, Rod studied closely under Mani's son, Yogiraj Alan Finger. Eventually Rod would become his teachers' only American disciple to be given the title Yogiraj, master of Yoga.
In 1999, Rod met Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, spiritual head of the Himalayan Institute and successor to Sri Swami Rama. Rod became Panditji's student and was welcomed into the tradition of the Himalayan Masters. Their close relationship has continued to grow, and in recent years Rod has taught alongside Panditji at various seminars, workshops, and retreats. In 2004, Panditji initiated him as "Yogarupa" (which means "essence" or "embodiment" of Yoga) in the ceremony of the Sacred Thread. Their meeting helped inspire and consolidate Rod's previous 2 decades of study of study and practice.
Rod is currently writing The Four Desires, a book due to be released in mid 2010. He is also on the advisory board of Yoga + Joyful Living magazine, and on the board of directors of the Himalayan Institute. www.parayoga.com.
