Dr. Hansaji Yogendra is the Director of the Yoga Institute in Mumbai; the world’s oldest Yoga centre. She is also the President of International Board of Yoga, and Senior Vice President of the Indian Yoga Association (IYA).
Known as the First Lady of Yoga, she made her nation proud by sharing the stage alongside India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji at the first International Day of Yoga in New Delhi. It was owing to her philanthropic work that The Yoga Institute was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for spreading the benefits of Yoga. The Institute conducts various healthcare and rehabilitation programmes as well as yoga education for underprivileged and marginalised communities, particularly women and children suffering from exploitation, abuse, malnutrition and HIV. Other programmes extend to employees of the University of Mumbai, the Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Police, Western Railways and the Mantralaya.
Dr. Hansaji has authored and co-authored over 50 books including best-sellers like The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, How to Reverse Heart Disease, Pregnancy, and Parenthood. Under her guidance, the Institute continues to transform millions of live worldwide through yoga.
