The Bhagavad Gita is considered one of the most studied scriptures in India and is revered as a Love Poem to the Divine. This course will help you experience the beauty and accessibility this scripture offers for all people, not just monks.

This three-day session focuses on exploring the Bhagavad Gita through asana, pranayama, meditation and other Tantric practices. Mornings will begin with a physical practice that weaves in messages from the Gita, closing with Pranayama and Meditation. In the afternoons you will be introduced to chapters of the Gita that leave you inspired and wanting to continue reading on your own. A practice and meditation will close each day. Day One will look at Chapters 1 through to 5, Day Two is Chapters 6 to 12 and Day Three is Chapters 13 to 18.

Topics will include and are not limited to:

  • The Backstory of the Bhagavad Gita – learning the both the truth and symbolism
  • Karma Yoga, Dharma
  • Will, Surrender and Desire
  • How to Love, Who is Krishna, The Art of Surrender
  • Sankhya Philosophy Examined
  • How to Live as a Yogi in our Present Time

Student will receive:

  • Newfound appreciation for the Bhagavad Gita and the start of a long relationship with the scripture
  • Meditation practices which deepen their relationship with their personal concept of the Divine
  • Greater understanding of the hidden meanings behind specific areas of the scripture
  • Knowledge of India’s history behind the story
  • Twenty-five hours of continuing education credit through Yoga Alliance if full attendance and completion of one homework piece are fulfilled

Students who wish to receive the full 25 hours of continuing education credit will be asked to write a paper answering a specific question, due one month after the last day of the course on 20th November 2019. This paper is to be printed, double spaced and last between 5 – 10 pages, using the information gained from the course and additional information from ongoing study.

Jeanne teaches with sensitivity, generosity of spirit and a good dose of humor. In her quest for a deep and meaningful connection with all that yoga has to offer, she has studied extensively in Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara, PraYoga, Vini and Tantra Yoga styles; each adding a deeper element of meaning to her practice and teachings.
