A part of teaching yoga is in acting as a link between the teachings of yoga and the student; we are somewhere between a salve and velcro; easing the way in some places, sticking things together in others, all in and effort to bridge the gap of understanding.

How do we communicate? Through vibration. Vibration becomes manifest through thoughts, words and actions, so it makes sense to see all three aspects involved in assisting students with their understanding of yoga.

This 2 day workshop weekend is for teachers and teacher trainees who are interested in refining their teaching skills with a lense on languaging asana, communicating a theme throughout a class, and inferring information through touch. This has less to do with technical assists and more to do with relating to the student, but there will be plenty of hands on features of the weekend.

On this weekend, teachers will gain:

  • insight and depth into the basic elements of communication
  • skills and practice in breaking habit patterns of speech and creating more effective patterns
  • an understanding of direct versus indirect communication
  • confidence using touch to communicate
  • an understanding of fascia as a proprioceptive organ
  • anatomical knowledge
  • asana practice each day

Day 1 : the tool of the tongue

  • Enriching experiential language
  • Making words your own
  • The journey of storytelling

  • Anatomy of touch
