INTEGRATION COURSE | The Art of Immersive and Intelligent Sequencing: Methods and tools for creating transformative, multi-dimensional classes
This integration course complements, integrates and expands on the learning from the other mandatory and elective modules of the Advanced Teacher Training Programme and runs alongside them. It offers the opportunity to practically apply what you’ve learned to teaching scenarios, consolidate your learning, and develop and grow as a teacher.
Course focus and intention
This course is for yoga teachers ready to deepen their understanding of how to create a rich, cohesive, multi-dimensional experience in classes or 1:1 teaching. Through creative and immersive sequencing you’ll learn to

- leave students feeling invigorated, inspired and relaxed.
We’ll explore how to facilitate the state of yoga through:
- Structuring purposeful, effective, creative sequences that support presence, ease, lightness and joy.
- Weaving together immersive movement with themes on subtle anatomy and yoga philosophy to deepen understanding and foster insight.
- Working with physical, mental, emotional and energetic aspects of practice to create a balanced and comprehensive experience.
- Integrating breathwork and meditation seamlessly into an asana-focused class.
- Creating well crafted classes that are clear, inclusive, adaptable and accessible to students with a diversity of backgrounds.
Course overview
Throughout the course, yoga philosophy, ethics, science, and teaching methodology are woven into the live sessions.
Yoga philosophy and ethics
- The historical background, tradition and development of vinyasa yoga
- The ethics of teaching yoga: Ethical principles in yogic philosophy, their relevance for teaching and daily life.
- Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras as a manual for liberation: approaching the state of yoga
- Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras as a manual for meditation
The science of yoga
- Critical thinking and using research evidence
- The neuroscience of stress and the effects of yoga on brain, physiology and felt sense of well-being
- The bio-psycho-social model applied to a multi-dimensional yoga practice
Teaching methodology
- Planning and delivering multi-layered yoga classes that balance movement and stillness
- Designing and structuring creative sequencing for engaging vinyasa classes
- Theming classes (e.g. five elements, prana vayu, panchamaya kosha, mantra, nada)
- Integrating breathwork and meditation into classes
- Inclusive teaching: language, adaptations, scope of practice and other considerations to facilitate non-dogmatic, trauma-sensitive classes for everyone
- Working individually with students within a general class setting
Note: The asana sequencing aspects of the course will have a slight emphasis on vinyasa or dynamic yoga. However, the principles are not exclusive to vinyasa and can be applied across a range of teaching styles.

Assignments and course assessment
Assignments will include:
- Reading with reflection questions
- Multi-week class plan (curriculum design)
- Written case study based on delivering the multi-week class plan

- Teaching practice
- Giving and receiving feedback on teaching
