A Living Tradition: Summer Series

Five days with three teachers, built around a simple idea - that yoga isn't something you learn once and keep. It's something you continue returning to, and each time you return, you notice something new.

Summer Series 1

A living tradition is something you return to again and again.

If you teach, you'll know the feeling: sequences that work, information that lands, classes that go well by every visible measure, and still a nagging sense that something underneath it hasn't been addressed. This is your next step...

This very special Summer Series is an opportunity to practice with a fresh perspective.

Yoga is the residue of practice, not just the practices themselves. Being a skilful teacher, then, isn't only about sequencing well. It's about creating the conditions for that state to occur, for your students and for yourself.

Over five days, Lisa Petersen, Leila Stuart and Doug Keller each open a different door into this state: exploring self-inquiry, embodiment of the Koshas, and the role of the breath.

Two days of journal prompts in between give you space to work out what this means for how you teach, not just how you practice. It's a short, live companion to that same question explored in full in our self-paced course, Being Yoga: A Living Tradition - you don't need to have taken it to join, but the two sit naturally together.

For yoga teachers who want to refresh their perspectives, and for curious practitioners and yoga therapists too.

What You'll Leave With

  • A renewed perspective of what yoga actually is, beyond a list of techniques
  • A working understanding of self-inquiry and the koshas you can bring into how you teach, not just how you practice
  • A grounded, science-backed way to talk about why breath practice does what it does
  • Five days of journal reflection you can return to long after the series ends

The Schedule

Tuesday 25th August:  Practicing Self-Inquiry (45 min) with Lisa Petersen
Wednesday 26th August: Reflective journal prompts
Thursday 27th August: Embodying the Koshas in Practice (45 min) with Leila Stuart
Friday 28th August: Reflective journal prompts
Saturday 29th August: The Science of Breath: Nitric Oxide and Cellular Renewal (45 min) with Doug Keller

Each teaching day runs 45 minutes. The journal days give you space to reflect before the next session.

  • Lisa Petersen leads us into self-inquiry - where the practice starts to ask questions of us, rather than the other way round.
  • Leila Stuart brings the Koshas into the discussion, tracing how these layers show up not as theory, but as something felt on the mat.
  • Doug Keller turns to the science of breath, looking at how something as ordinary as nitric oxide connects the physiological to the practice itself.
