The State of Yoga: Through Breath and Meditation

This course is a deep dive into the inner practices and how they contribute to the state of yoga.  These primarily include pranayama and meditation, but also other practices such as mudra, bandhas, yoga nidra, and restorative.  We explore the practices as separate elements, but also the ways in which they integrate.

In this course you will...

  • Learn about the historical context and evolution of the inner practices through the centuries.
  • Explore contemporary scientific research around the process and benefits of the inner practices.
  • Have direct experiences of the practices - through guided practice, and as part of self-practice.
  • Have taken part in discussion about the contribution the inner practices make to the state of yoga.
  • Have engaged in discussion about the extent to which these practices. can stand alone, and to what extent are they integrated with asana practice.
  • Have an understanding of how to include inner practices in a general class.
  • Gain an understanding of how to establish and teach fundamental breath awareness.
  • Understand ways to support a Restorative Yoga practice when the mind continues to wander.
  • Learn some common/prevalent psychological and physiological concerns (e.g. breathlessness, anxiety, and depression), and adapt practices accordingly within the scope of practice of a yoga teacher.  

Course Structure

The 50 hours of this course includes: 40 hours live online sessions spread across four weekends;  3 hours of pre-recorded content; and 7 hours of self-study.

Who is this for?

This course is for anyone with an existing meditation practice and a foundational understanding of relaxation practices.

Is this part of a larger course?

Yes, this course is part of the Advanced Teacher Training but may also be completed independently.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Once all elements of the course are completed (including attending one discussion session), an e-certificate will be issued.

Are Continuing Education credits available for this course?

Yes, this course is eligible for CE credits. If you are unsure how to apply these credits to your Yoga Alliance CEP hours, please email info@yogacampus.com and we will help you with the details.

What is your refund policy?

For our full terms and conditions, please see: https://www.yogacampus.com/legal/terms-and-conditions You may cancel your booking for an Event so long as you do so in writing at least 30 days before the start of the Event. In that case, we will refund you in sterling the amount you have paid us in respect of that Event, less an administration fee of 10% of the price of the Event or £35, whichever is the greater, subject to a maximum administration fee of £50. If you cancel within 30 days of the start date of the Event, there will be no refund. You can however transfer your booking to another student and, if there is a wait list for the event, we will offer your space to them. If we do re-sell your space we will refund you the amount you have paid us in respect of that Event, less an administration fee calculated as set out above. We shall not be responsible for any expenses which you may incur or have incurred in respect of the Event, for example in respect of travel or accommodation or any exchange rate losses.
