Yoga Nidra: A Somatic Approach to Deep Rest

In today’s fast-paced world, deep rest has become one of our greatest medicines. While sleep restores the body naturally, Yoga Nidra offers a conscious pathway into profound restoration, quieting the nervous system while awakening deeper levels of awareness.

At Prajna, Yoga Nidra begins long before the body becomes still.

Through gentle somatic movement, we prepare the body for profound rest. As the tissues soften and the nervous system quiets, attention is gently guided away from the surface and into the depths of perceiving. Awareness moves from the skin to the fascia, from the periphery toward the core, until resting within the spacious stillness of the brain and spinal cord.

Surya Nidra

Yoga Nidra is not an escape from the body, but an intimate journey through it.

Rather than simply relaxing, Yoga Nidra becomes an exploration of embodied consciousness. Guided with precision and care, students enter the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep, where deep restoration, clarity, and inner listening naturally arise.

This six-session online training is designed for yoga teachers, movement educators, therapists, healthcare professionals, and dedicated practitioners who wish to deepen their own experience of Yoga Nidra while learning to confidently guide others.

In this training, you will:

  • Learn key somatic movements that prepare the body for Yoga Nidra.
  • Discover how releasing the joints, fascia, bones, and connective tissues supports profound rest.
  • Learn to guide awareness from the body’s surface toward its deeper layers of perception.
  • Develop precise language for softening the skin, peripheral nerves, and sensory system.
  • Explore the release of the face, jaw, eyes, inner ears, cranial sutures, and membranes surrounding the brain.
  • Learn to guide students into the liminal state between wakefulness and sleep.
  • Cultivate the confidence to create and lead complete Yoga Nidra experiences.
