Practical Mysticism: Staying Rooted in the Present, On and Off the Mat

What is this mysterious state of yoga and why does it desert me when I leave my mat? How can I better create a life that is more of a seamless river, flowing from yoga mat to work to family to friends to yoga mat? Join Judith Hanson-Lasater and Lizzie Lasater in this two-part online course focusing on the concept of “practical mysticism”.

Workshop Description

Practicing yoga over the years changes our life, and in turn our life changes our yoga practice. As we begin to embody the fruits of our practice, we slowly recognize that the deepest yoga cannot be demonstrated in an asana. Neither can it be explained by the softness and quietness we feel after a pranayama practice or meditation session. Techniques facilitate the state of yoga but are not the state of yoga.

Eventually we begin noticing that the state of being we experience in our yoga practice is often lacking in our “non-yoga practice” lives and relationships.

Sometimes we may find ourselves longing to live in a way that expresses the delicious fruit of our yoga practice in all our interactions and choices.

What will we cover?

In this workshop we will discuss the concept of “practical mysticism”.

What is this mysterious state of yoga and why does it desert me when I leave my mat? How can I better create a life that is more of a seamless river, flowing from yoga mat to work to family to friends to yoga mat?

We will also offer some practical techniques that can help us to foster a deeper sense of presence when we step out of the practice space into the wider world. This will allow us the opportunity to carry the residue of our yoga practice with us always.
