Participants will experience a fascinating insight into the Chinese medical model with its profound powers for healing. It is hoped that the learning will be a valuable tool for self knowledge and growth, which in turn can be used to deepen teaching practice. It is an introduction to this complex system of medicine. The teachers will introduce an organ each day that will correspond with the seasonal elements and corresponding organs and emotions.

These will be:

Day 1 KIDNEY – the Water element – (Winter)
Day 2 LIVER – the Wood element – (Spring)
Day 3 HEART – the Fire element – (Summer)
Day 4 SPLEEN – the Earth element – (Summer)
Day 5 LUNG – the Metal element – (Autumn)

With each element there will be a description of the energetics of the organ, detailed teaching of the meridian pathway on the body, what happens to put the organ out of balance, how to correct the energy inbalance, how to support the healing with Qi Gong practices, with acupressure sequences and dietary advice. The final section of each day will be dedicated to a Yin Yoga practice that works with the meridians studied.

This course will suit Yoga teachers and all holistic therapists who are curious and open about Traditional Chinese Medicine. It will be taught by two very experienced teachers in their field who have worked together with this material.

The intention of this course is to introduce the participants to the Traditional Chinese Medical model. In doing so it is hoped that attendees will grasp the foundations of the medicine and how it unfolds according to the natural world. Each day will be dedicated to understanding a different element and this will tie in with a Yin practice to support the learning.

By the end you will have a flavour of this work and an appreciation for the depth of the study. We strongly encourage repetition and continued learning. It is hoped that this will support your own health and way of living and that you may begin to incorporate this learning into your teaching.

We will be taking a look at the energetics of the organs (fear, anger, joy, worry, grief) and some partner work will be used. This is an important part of the course. Participants are expected to maintain confidentiality.

The Qi Gong practice will be daily and be an introduction into this simple but powerful ‘energy movement’ for the body. Certain practices will be dedicated to match the organs we have been working on. The Yin sequences dovetail to the organ studied and give participants the chance to be present with the work by accessing the corresponding channel.

The course will be taught using some power point, a good proportion of practical work and partner work as well as the Qi Gong, meditation and Yin Practices.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the coursework and full attendance, a Certificate of Completion will be issued. The coursework component will involve a written piece of 800 – 1,000 words based on a choice of three relevant essay topics.

What our students say

“Such a wonderful 5 days. Norman and the teachers he has invited to share Yin yoga have de-mystified the practice and shared their knowledge in an easy to understand and approachable way.” A Student on Yin Yoga: Minds, Meridians, Moments, March 2017
