Electives

The Advanced Teacher Training includes your choice of 70 hours of elective content in areas that you would find most beneficial for your own pathway. These are designed to offer knowledge, skills, and inspiration to support personal development and professional career development.

The Electives are scheduled throughout the year.  They are organised in four categories but you are welcome to choose whichever Electives best suit your need:

  • Working with Specific Populations (building your skills in relation to particular conditions or phases of life)
  • Teaching Approaches (developing your teaching skills and expanding your pedagogic understanding)
  • Professional Development (focus on learning those skills that will be of benefit to you as a professional)
  • Expanding Knowledge (deepen your expertise in relation to particular areas of study)

Each elective course will range between 10 and 50 hours in length.

These are also stand alone CPD/Specialist courses and are also available to those not part of the full 300hr.

Practicalities

How are the hours of the Electives applied to the full 300hr training?

This section of the course is intended to give you the opportunity to create your own individual study pathway.  The Electives vary in length (10 hours, 20 hours, 30 hours, 50 hours) and you have the choice to select 70 hours of Electives in total.

I'm part of the Advanced Teacher Training - how do I book my Electives?

Electives are booked individually (with a discount code, where applicable), the way one would normally book a specialist course or workshop.  Elective hours are then recorded and will count towards your full 300hrs.

When in the Advanced Teacher Training will I do my Electives?

We recommend that you wait until you have begun your Integration Cohort course before you start your Electives.

What is the timeframe for completing the Electives within the Advanced Teacher Training?

All elements of the Training, including Electives, need to be completed within 3 years of your start date.
