Guiding Meditation

Join senior teachers Isabell Britsch and Graham Burns for one of the series of 6 hour modules exploring all aspects of meditation practice and teaching. Modules can be done individually, or as part of The Meditation Teacher Training (with the option of becoming certified as a Meditation Teacher). Each module stands alone, so you can choose the topics that resonate most with you—or complete all four plus assessments to gain Yogacampus Meditation Teacher Certification.

Have you ever wanted to be able to lead your friends, colleagues, or students in meditation, but are not sure how to go about it?

This module will give you key techniques for structuring and guiding both stand-alone meditation practices and for incorporating meditation into general yoga classes. You do not need to be a yoga teacher to take this module!

Course Overview

The module will include a mix of discussion, practical exercises, and different meditation practices. Topics covered will include:

  • Posture: preparatory postures for establishing a meditation seat, helping students find a comfortable meditation posture (including use of props), post-meditation release postures.
  • Breath: preparatory breathing practices, integrating pranayama and meditation.
  • Planning: how to structure a guided meditation, how seamlessly and effectively to integrate meditation into a general yoga class.
  • Teaching tools: use of language in guiding meditation, post-meditation inquiry.
  • Cautions: challenges which might arise in guiding meditation and how to address them.

When you sign up for Guiding Meditation, you’ll receive:

  • A 6-hour live, online module taught by senior Yogacampus teachers Isabell Britsch and Graham Burns
  • Practical sessions which explore key techniques for guiding meditation, both as a standalone practice and as part of a general yoga class
  • Guided meditation practices that you can try in real time—no previous experience needed
  • Open group discussion, practical exercies, and shared inquiry, with space to ask questions, reflect, and learn together
  • A session recording will be made available afterward, so you can revisit the material at your own pace
  • We encourage live attendance if possible, to benefit from group discussions, small group work, and interactive elements
  • The option to take this as a standalone or continue through The Meditation Series—with a pathway to Yogacampus Meditation Teacher Certification

This isn’t just theory—it’s a supportive, experiential learning space designed to help you build confidence, curiosity, and clarity in your meditation practice and teaching.

Independent modules or part of a series

Probably the single most constant element of yoga practice through the ages has been meditation. As BKS Iyengar himself wrote, Yoga is Meditation, and Meditation is Yoga.

But meditation is also an essential part of Buddhist practice, and more recently has been widely and beneficially adopted in the modern world as a standalone practice in all sorts of different environments.

Join senior teachers Isabell Britsch and Graham Burns for a series of four 6 hour modules exploring all aspects of meditation practice and teaching. The modules can be taken independently or booked as a series – and those taking all four also have the option to gain Yogacampus Meditation Teacher certification (see further below).

A course based on years of feedback

Over years of teaching, Graham and Isabell kept hearing the same things:

  • “I feel unsure about meditation.”
  • “I don’t know if I’m doing it right.”
  • “I want to teach it, but I don’t feel qualified.”

Many experienced yoga teachers and students told us they felt disconnected from their practice—or overwhelmed by the noise of the modern meditation world. Apps, advice, and spiritual trends were adding pressure, not peace.

We created this series to offer something different. A space to strip away the confusion. To start fresh. To reconnect with meditation in a way that feels grounded, inclusive, and personal.

The series is designed to meet you where you are—whether you’re a curious beginner, a seasoned practitioner, or a teacher ready to build confidence in how you guide others.

Because meditation doesn’t need to be mysterious, silent, or perfect.  It just needs to be real.

FAQs

Do I need to be a yoga teacher to join?
No. This module is open to anyone—from curious beginners to experienced teachers.

Will this help me teach meditation?
Yes. Whether you’re new to guiding meditation or already including it in your classes, this module provides a practical foundation and clarity.

Can I take this as a stand-alone?
Yes. Each module in this series can be taken independently. If you complete all four, you’ll be eligible for Meditation Teacher Certification through Yogacampus.

What if I can’t attend live?
A full recording will be provided for you to watch at your convenience. That said, we recommend attending live if you can, to get the most out of the group interaction and discussion.

Who is eligible?

The modules are open to anyone interested in meditation, teacher or not and yoga practitioner or not.

Meditation Teacher Certification

For those wishing to proceed to certification as a Yogacampus meditation teacher, you will need to have taken all four modules and, in addition, to complete the following to the satisfaction of the course tutors within 15 months of your first module:

  • have a 30 minute private online conversation with one of the course tutors to discuss your assignments and any questions you may have about the course materials;
  • maintain a diary of your own personal meditation practice for at least 20 days in a 30 day period, and submit a summary of your reflections and insights from maintaining and journalling a regular practice;
  • submit audio recordings of you guiding two different meditations, each of about 20 minutes in length.

You will receive written feedback on your diary reflections and audio recordings from one of the course tutors.

As a minimum, 80% live attendance is required for certification. Any missed aspect is to be caught up via recordings (plus any other requirement the teachers might ask for e.g. a quiz).
