Yoga Therapy for Pain Management, Headaches

The Viniyoga methodology for working with people who deal with chronic pain utilizes strategies that address the whole person. Movement and breathing are the most well-known yoga strategies for chronic pain, yet it is often the inner dimensions of yoga that are fundamental to optimal life functioning. We will focus on three categories of chronic pain to explore the benefits of Yoga Therapy: structural pain, fibromyalgia, and headaches.

Structural Pain Management: Focus on Neck and Shoulders – Oct. 29, 2020

There are many types and causes of chronic neck and shoulder pain. Yoga Therapy practices used to help individuals find relief vary according to those differences. Together, we will explore common causes and types of neck and shoulder pain through lecture and dialogue. Then Gary will guide a specific therapeutic practice to relieve commonly occurring types of neck and shoulder pain.

Pain Management for Fibromyalgia – Nov. 5, 2020

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by a varying cluster of symptoms, which most commonly include widespread chronic pain (CWP) with multiple trigger points, fatigue, and anxiety. Through lecture and dialogue, we will explore fibromyalgia and its common symptoms. Then Gary will guide a specific therapeutic practice to manage trigger-point pain while increasing energy and calming the nervous system.

Pain Management for Headaches – Nov. 12, 2020

Millions of people around the world experience headaches on a regular basis. There are many different causes and types of headaches, which we will explore together through lecture and dialogue. Then Gary will guide a specific therapeutic practice designed to relieve commonly occurring types of headaches.

Recordings

The workshops will be recorded and the videos sent to all participants for replay for a limited time after the final event.
