Course Description

The insomnia and sleeplessness epidemic continues to grow, and offering sleep-supporting individually tailored, customised and flexible experiences enables you to help address a range of comorbid physical and mental health issues.

This training is for yoga teachers, bodyworkers, counsellors and therapists as well as medical and other therapeutic professionals in general and/or in mental health who want to offer Sleep Recovery™ courses and classes in a group setting.

Based on the work of yoga teacher and trainer, yoga therapist and psychotherapist Lisa Sanfilippo, the Sleep Recovery™ method integrates simply applied yoga practices, and utilises the yogic concept of the Pancha Koshas and the Ayurvedic Doshas to understand the main pathways that students can use to tailor their approach to better sleep, rest and wakefulness.

Sleep Recovery™ draws on a broad range of yoga tools, practices and perspectives, as well as psychotherapeutic and behavioural approaches to insomnia; and with an understanding of relevant sleep science as well as cultural and philosophical views of sleep and sleeplessness, provides a theoretical and practical basis for working with groups including students and clients with little or no yoga experience.

Who is this course for?

The Sleep Recovery Teacher Training™ (Groups) is open to yoga teachers, bodyworkers, counsellors and therapists as well as medical and other therapeutic professionals in general and/or in mental health that want to offer Sleep Recovery courses and classes in a group setting.

  • This training is for qualified yoga teachers, focussing on integrating Sleep Recovery knowledge into existing classes and yoga environments as well as teaching the Sleep Recovery™ curriculum.

  • This training is also for those in allied health professions who have some experience of yoga but who are not qualified yoga teachers. This course will not qualify you as a fully-fledged yoga teacher, but will enable you within the guidelines of your profession to offer specific applicable movements, practices and resources within the Sleep Recovery™ curriculum.

What will I learn?

Upon successful completion of this training and the final assessment exercises, you will be qualified to offer the multi- week Sleep Recovery™ course curriculum in group settings: whether in yoga studios, health, education and community settings or workplaces in person and online appropriate to your professional qualifications.

You will also learn to adapt existing classes and group courses so as to integrate sleep-supportive practices.
