Sacred Sound healing emerges as a profound therapy, weaving together an array of healing sounds, music, and specialised instruments to nurture multidimensional wellness. Within this therapeutic landscape, our energy field - encompassing body, mind, soul, and spirit - is tenderly awakened, offering a profound journey towards inner harmony and restoration.
At its core, sacred sound healing can induce our relaxation response - this holistic approach strives to rebalance our entire being, fostering a state of equilibrium and tranquility.
Sacred sound healing Instruments effortlessly complement both on-body and off-body applications, seamlessly integrating vocal sounds and tones into the healing tapestry.
Sacred sound healing is a simple yet profound way to connect with the core of our being and tune our body at a cellular level through the gentleness of its resonance. You can enjoy the exquisite healing sounds of Singing Bowls, Gong, Celtic Drum, Rainstick, Vocal Toning and Mantra, within the safe and powerful embrace of Ceremony. And you might witness the release of stress and blockages, as vibrations gently ‘retune’ body, mind and soul as your Journey into Sacred Sound Ceremony begins.
As yoga practitioners and seekers alike, we are invited to explore the transformative potential of sound healing, unlocking profound layers of healing and restoration. Whether in the intimacy of a one-on-one session or the collective embrace of a sound bath, the healing melodies resonate, guiding us towards a state of profound wellbeing and renewal.
In the symphony of sound healing, may we find solace, restoration, and a pathway towards holistic well-being, embracing the transformative power of sound with open hearts and receptive souls.
We caught up with our Sacred Sound expert and musician Anne Malone who has a deep understanding of how music and movement flow and unfold with ease and grace, creating a wonderful world of sacred sound.
Anne is an internationally recognised singer/songwriter, with a variety of CDs, one of which “Tender Lullaby” was nominated for the NME Awards in 2009 and entered the iTunes top 10 charts. Her passion for music has taken her on a journey of sound from the vibrant music of Dublin in Ireland to the exotic rhythms of Latin America, the eclectic sounds of USA, and the rich folk traditions of Europe. Anne’s love of yoga and meditation has added depth of devotion and physical awareness throughout her journey, and by combining her training in Sacred Sound (Chris James), The Journey (Brandon Bays), Flow Yoga (Shiva Rea) and Shamanic Ceremony (Hart Lodge), she is offering a unique yogic musical exploration.
1. What inspired you to delve into the world of Sacred Sound and Ceremony?
As I’ve been singing and playing music since the age of three, my life has been a constant flow of music and harmony. I witnessed how certain pieces of music and songs could evoke emotional responses from audiences and individuals. My curiosity grew, in my twenties, when I began my journey into Meditation and Mantra, with my Teacher, Prem Rawat. I could feel how Mantra could bring us into deep meditation through devotional song, and how healing it felt when emotional release arose.
When I heard about Chris James’ work with vocal healing, I immediately became a dedicated student, exploring and learning a pathway to utilise my voice, meditation practice and desire to release stress and help the healing process, through vocal toning and sacred song. During my travels to other continents and cultures, I experienced how powerfully the land energy shaped each culture, and how at the heart of each cultural was ritual and ceremony. When I lived in Mexico, I became fascinated with Shamanic world, and was privileged to learn from the Nautle people of Colima. A few years later, I studied “Ceremonial Path” with Annie Spencer at Hart Lodge, a beautiful journey into Shamanka (female shamanism) incorporating the Celtic Cycle, North American Indigenous Traditions, alongside our ancestral sacred sites.
2. How do you believe Sacred Sound can enhance one's connection to their core being?
“In the beginning was the word” Scientists are now able to measure energy, and have concluded that at our core we are vibration/sound/resonance. A truism that our ancestors were aware of.
In my experience, sound/song/vibration can resonate at a molecular level, dancing our cells into free flow where there is stagnation the vibrations shake stagnation into freedom. Retuning and returning to the original state of harmony. This we can witness by placing water inside a singing bowl, playing the bowl, and witness the water “dance” as the vibrations move the molecular makeup of the water! Watch this video for more.
3. Can you share a particularly transformative experience you've witnessed through Sacred Sound practices?
Firstly, let me explain that in my experience the body heals itself and we facilitate the process, so yes, I have witnessed many transformations through Sacred Sound practices. Relief from grief, physical and mental pain.
4. For those new to this concept, what can they expect to gain from attending your course in-person The HeArt of Sacred Sound & Ceremony?
SacredSound and Ceremony can open pathways to experience the depth of our being through pure sound in a loving and safe way. Through learning how to play the magical singing bowls, vocal toning & Mantra, and the various instruments, we can bathe the body in pure vibrations creating a Sacred Space for healing to occur. I will guide you to play these magical instruments and use your voice to share Mantra, and vocal toning as a diagnostic tool (locate stagnation via sound). Ceremony brings deep respect to our ancestral pathways. We will view the everyday ceremony of our morning coffee/tea/juice to the ancient ceremony of drumming and chanting … and discover how Ceremony shapes our lives to this day.
5. How do you accommodate individuals with varying levels of experience or background in sound healing
As I teach unique techniques … no matter how much experience we may have, we’ll all start at beginners’ level.
6. Can you share any insights into the science behind the healing power of sound vibrations?
As I am passionate about experiencing the science … I share practical demonstrations of how sound vibrations move and dance molecules … (see vid)
7. What advice would you give to someone who may be hesitant or skeptical about trying Sacred Sound practices
Just listen to your heartbeat, your breath, your environment … we will journey into the heart of sound … this is your birthright and at your core! We’ll just come home to the sound of our heart beat … Love at its core.
