Who is this training for?

This training is for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, medical professionals, psychotherapists, and other therapists (massage, osteopathy, chiropractic).

Lisa Sanfilippo, your course leader is a UKCP accredited psychotherapist, a yoga therapist, and teacher trainer and the author of Yoga Therapy for Insomnia & Sleep Recovery (Singing Dragon, 2019) and Sleep Recovery (Bloomsbury/Green Tree, 2020). She has taught the material in Sleep Recovery for nearly 20 years, in workshops, one to one yoga therapy sessions, multi-week courses and seminars of many formats.

You’ll gain the essential knowledge, tools, and resources to offer effective classes, courses, workshops, and one to one sessions that recondition the aspects of a person’s life that have gone out of balance directly affecting their sleep, wakefulness and ability to rest.

The 5 steps of Sleep Recovery integrate physical, energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of life, habits and practices, forming a 5-week curriculum, a framework for therapeutic assessment and action, and methods for helping students and clients to improve and measure their progress. Please download the course prospectus from the link to the right of this page for more detailed information.

Pre Course Work

Please note that you will need to purchase and review a copy of Yoga Therapy for Insomnia and Sleep Recovery and of Sleep Recovery to participate in this training as these form the core texts and will be used as references for homework, as well as your ongoing practice of the techniques. Copies may be purchased in print from a variety of local and national booksellers or on Kindle format.

There will be some review exercises during the course, which you will complete online, so it’s helpful to set aside some time between course days for this. There are knowledge reviews and you will be given simple practices to incorporate into your routine during the course.

Please note it is your responsibility to read the joining instructions that will be outlined in your booking confirmation email.

The Public Services Scholarship Programme – 2 Fully Funded Scholarships

The main purpose of this programme is to bring Yoga Therapy for Insomnia and Sleep Recovery (referred to as Sleep Recovery) into health, educational, correctional and other public services so that those who suffer from insomnia and sleep difficulties due to health, mental health, situational stress or other factors can use non-drug, self-administered support for their sleep and better rest. For this, we are seeking participants who have an established relationship within a public service, and organisational sponsor within that organisation (ensuring space, time, in-kind or financial support for the Sleep Recovery 5 week courses) and must commit to offering 2 rounds of Sleep Recovery in the calendar year after training.

A second, and important, purpose is to gather information about how effective the course has been- to better understand its strengths and where it can be improved. Thirdly, where the course has been useful, the programme is intended to promote good practice throughout public services, collecting evidence and promoting the benefits of a yoga-based and holistic approach to sleep problems.

There will be 2 fully funded places on the course awarded to those who meet the above criteria. Please complete the application form at the bottom of this section of the web page to apply for a free space.

At this time, while yoga teachers and yoga therapists may gain a Sleep Recovery Practitioner qualification, public service scholarship applicants must be already-qualified yoga teachers or must partner with a qualified yoga teacher who has completed Sleep Recovery training.
