Back Care Basics | Online Immersion

Join master Teacher Tias little for this Online Immersion in learning postural practices and somatic movement sequences to support lower back health as a preventive measure.

Back Care Jan 2023

Course Description

If you have never suffered from any back pain, you are in the minority! Most people suffer from some type of back pain in the course of their lifetime and statistics show that a whopping 85% of our culture experiences back trouble.

In this course, we offer postural practices and somatic movement sequences to support lower back health as a preventive measure. We also review the most common ailments that inflict the musculature of the back and the supporting tissues along the spine. We establish protocols for addressing spinal limitations in the muscular-skeletal system and address the vulnerability of the spinal nerves, ligaments, joints and discs.

Please note that this is a back care CPD immersion, *not* a comprehensive yoga for back care training. This immersion is open to all - yoga practitioners and yoga teachers.

What will we explore?

Sessions include some anatomical review of the connective tissues involved in spinal health and spinal motion. Each session includes practices to mobilize and stabilize the soft tissues across the entire back and locally along the spine.

What will the structure of each session be?

Each session entails approximately 20 – 30 minutes of lecture/meditation, and the remaining time is used for guided practice.

Have your props handy! We recommend two blocks, blankets, a thick bolster, an 8’ or 10’ belt/strap, and a backless Iyengar chair (modifications will be given if you do not have a chair). We recommend and Manduka for props; backless chairs can be found on Amazon and Etsy.
