Self-Care, Compassion and Mentoring: Tools for Sustainability
Yogacampus Finsbury Park, London
Many foundational teacher training courses equip us to teach others, but do not prepare us to look after ourselves within the demands of teaching. This two day workshop will explore what self-care and self-compassion are for teachers, and how to apply it in to your own life.

Workshop Description
Many of us come into yoga teaching because we have felt its transformative impact on our mental and physical wellbeing and wish to share these tools with others. However, the realities of teaching make it challenging to maintain our own wellness. It can feel an isolating profession and we might wonder who we can turn to for support.
Burnout can feel close to the surface if we give out more than we are able to draw back in. It is essential that we make sure as teachers we are being fed.
This two day workshop will explore what self-care and self-compassion are in their broadest senses (not just bubble baths and bolsters). It will create a space for sharing and support and provide practical tools that as teachers we can use to stay well within the wellness industry.
Each day will include a restoring practice to nourish and nurture ourselves and remind us to practice what we feel so passionately about teaching.
What Will We Explore?
Participants will be invited to consider their own barriers and needs in relation to sustainability of energy, finances, health and happiness, and compile an action plan for moving forward.
We will explore the importance of ongoing support and avenues for this on both a peer and mentor level.
Each day will also include a restoring practice to nourish and nurture ourselves and remind us to practice what we feel so passionately about preaching.
Participants will receive
- A manual
- Jess Glenny's The Yoga Teacher Mentor Book
- Plenty of practical tips
Certification
Upon completion of this course, you will receive a Yogacampus Certificate of Attendance detailing the course hours eligible for Yoga Alliance CPD credits.
