Relax and Renew: Learning to Teach Restorative Yoga
Through practice, discussion, and lots of hands-on work, learn the art and skill of teaching restorative yoga postures and deep, complete relaxation with one of the world's foremost experts on restorative yoga.
We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. Restorative yoga postures help us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely. During deep relaxation, all the organ systems of the body are benefited. A few of the measurable results of relaxation are the reduction of blood pressure and the improvement of immune function, as well as improvement in digestion, fertility, elimination and the reduction of muscle tension and general fatigue.
Judith Hanson Lasater is credited with establishing restorative yoga as a modern yogic discipline and has taught Restorative Yoga teacher trainings around the world since 2001. Her Yogacampus intensives invariably sell out quickly. In this training we will learn the art and skill of teaching restorative yoga. With Judith and her team of assistants, we will cover all aspects of the subject, including the physiology of relaxation, the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of restorative yoga, special postures for menstruation, pregnancy and menopause, how to adapt postures for individual needs, and how to sequence and teach a restorative yoga class. Each session will be highly practical, giving you the chance to practise a range of restorative postures, as well as including lots of hands-on adjustments and discussion.
Please note that you are required to read and bring with you to each day of the training, a copy of Judith’s book Relax and Renew: Restful Yoga for Stressful Times, and Restore and Rebalance: Yoga for Deep Relaxation, plus the Reading Packet that will be emailed to you when you register.
As part of this course we will provide 1 bolster, 2 blocks, 2 bricks and these props will be available to purchase at a discount at the end of the course. You are required to bring your own mat, eyebag, hand towel, x 5 firm blankets and 1 strap. Ideally you will bring the “D” ring belt that is six feet long and two inches wide. Details of what is required are outlined in further detail in your booking confirmation email ‘Reading Packet’.
Please note that this workshop counts towards elective hours on the Yoga Therapy Diploma.
On completion of this intensive, as well as receiving a Yogacampus certificate of completion, you will also have the option to gain certification from Judith as a Relax and Renew Teacher. For this you will have to attend all sessions of the training (no exceptions!) and complete a project, to be submitted within 20 weeks of the end of the training, which, if completed successfully, will entitle you to certification from Judith as a Relax and Renew teacher of restorative yoga and to a lifetime listing on the www.restorativeyogateachers.com teachers directory. There will be a fee of £115 payable for the marking of this project and lifetime listing on www.restorativeyogateachers.com. Judith will explain this aspect during the intensive.
Please do not make travel plans which require you to leave/arrive outside of the scheduled course hours and ensure all of your classes have appropriate cover.
