Embodying the Power of Nature: AIR (HRYDAYA)

Within yoga and ayurveda the five elements are referred as pancha maha bhutas, as part of the tattvas or aspects of creation. These five elements at the macrocosmic level are responsible for the structure of the universe; they are the building blocks of the material world. This weekend will focus on the air element where you will learn the art of teaching Prana Vinyasa® - or Prana Flow® - as originated by the iconic Shiva Rea.

Air is the aspect for all movements, from our breath to circulation, and it’s the gaseous aspect of matter.

Course Description

In the Elemental Air / Breath of the Heart, Pathway of Prana Vinyasa you will learn to embody the life giving flow of prana – the sacred wind expressed in the movement pattern of the dhanurasana and natarajasana family of asanas.

During this weekend you will explore and learn how to teach HRYDAYA – Air Namaskar and two Air Sequences, Solar and Lunar, part of Elemental Prana Vinyasa Mandala.

You will be introduced to the air element from a yogic and ayurvedic perspective. The day will begin with setting the theme and ‘bhav’ (feeling state) for the air element, air meditation, reflection, and journalling. This will be followed by a long Sadhana (practice).

Course Structure

Saturday morning will be dedicated to Solar Air sadhana/ practice and integration lab before lunchtime. Solar Air peak asana: dropback to urdhva dhanurasana.

On Sunday morning you will explore a Lunar Air sadhana / practice and integration lab before lunchtime. Lunar Air Peak asana: ustrasana, lunar dropbacks, laghu vajrasana.

The afternoons are dedicated to technical labs: participants learn how to expand their elemental teaching vocabulary (air), teach each other in small groups and learn intelligent sequencing and the art of hands-on adjustments within the context of the PranaFlow three part Vinyasa method.

There will be time for a session of mantra japa and longer elemental meditation in circle.

This empowering and evolutionary vinyasa weekend, is the only one of its kind being offered by the UK’s first Affiliate Prana Flow Trainer®, Alessandra Pecorella. Alessandra will offer you the tools to embody the energetic flow of yoga on and off the mat, deepen your practice, and learn to share vinyasa for all levels.

What our students say

I was fortunate to meet Alessandra just over three years ago after completing my 200-hour teacher training. Alessandra’s devotion to the practice deeply inspired me so I decided to enrol on her 300-hour course in 2014. A few months into the programme, I started experiencing a tremendous shift in my own practice and teaching, feeling more focused and confident. The module subjects are carefully chosen in order to deepen the student’s knowledge, teaching skills and support their own development and creativity. A typical day consists of a long morning practice designed around the theme of the day, meditation, chanting, discussion on the class sequence and teacher’s labs. The group discussions at the end of the day gave us all an opportunity to share our own experiences as teachers, our joys and challenges. This was all done in a truly supportive, honest and nurturing environment. Alessandra is an incredibly gifted teacher with an amazing wealth of knowledge acquired over three decades of dedication to the practice. Her teaching is beautiful, spiritual and powerful, bringing out the best in each of her students. Alessandra is a caring, compassionate and supportive; she encourages her students to be creative with their own practice and teaching. A highly recommended teacher, a highly recommended programme.
